Helping hearts handle the election

When a whole nation is on edge

The fabric of its creeds frayed and tattered

Cry out to God instead of cursing one another.

Lift your hands to the heavens instead of pointing fingers.

If you kneel, may it be in prayer and spiritual songs to the Savior.

May our rhetoric be for repentance, revival and renewing.

Let us not fall to pieces based on the election of a man

but live in God’s peace because of His election of us.

May the name we choose be more than a one-time vote.

May we abide daily in the Name above every name,

Jesus, to Whom every knee will bow.

May we pledge allegiance to the righteousness of Christ.

As we wait to know who will lead our land,

Let us remember that the government,

The weight of the world, is on His strong shoulders.

Jesus is the One who carries our burdens

Completely, sufficiently, sacrificially.

By His wounds we are healed.

No matter who holds the highest office,

God remains Most High.

He is the only Sovereign, the only Judge, the only Liberator.

He has all authority in heaven and in earth.

No matter who is the head of the United States,

Christ remains head of the Church.

No matter who becomes president,

Jesus is still King of kings and Lord of lords.

No matter what direction our country takes,

the Lord ultimately directs our steps.

He removes and raises those in authority.

He uses both the wicked and virtuous for His good purposes.

May the flag we fly be a banner of love over all God’s people,

Because He first loved us. He is liberal with His mercy.

Let us dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives,

No matter who lives in the White House the next four years.

May we tether ourselves to the terms of an eternal God,

Not temporal man, for a thousand years is like one day to Him.

Let us not lament for our future,

But live as citizens of heaven, a higher calling.

Let us tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,

His power, and the wonders He has done.

Let us raise up children who trust in the Lord

More than in the law of the land.

May the name on our lips be Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,

Prince of Peace, not a politician who is like mist.

May our mouths proclaim the Majestic and Magnificent,

Who is in our midst and mighty to save.

Let us put away the swords of slander

And take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

Let our hearts be filled with the gospel and not grumbling.

Let our radical agendas be for Jesus, not ourselves.

May we advance the Kingdom of God, not the kingdom of men.

May we be a people who love the Lord with all our hearts, souls, strength and minds.

May we love our neighbors as ourselves,

And abide in His grace today and the days to come.
